PERU - Adidas is using the latest 3D augmented reality technology for an emerging customer experience.
People can view themselves on a portrait oriented monitor, wearing virtual clothes. The realistic image is rendered real time and follows all (body) movements correctly. All users can also make a picture by a simple hand gesture, creating a personalized Adidas postcard online. In the first week more than 1.000 online postcards have been created.
The whole project was created by Zero Creative, the Dutch media company that specialized in interactive 3D digital signage (Web: www.zerocreative.com).

This month Nike used our special 3D solutions for the introduction of their new product “Nike Lunar Eclipse+ 2″ in India.
What we supplied was:
- our new 110″ xyZ 3D Video Wall (no glasses needed)
- our touch-less interactive product presentor
- social network activity

Nike used our glasses-free 3D and touch-less interaction technology in March 2012. People passing by where captured using a 110″ glasses-free 3D video wall, and participants could interact with the new product using intuitive human gestures (no touch), all visible also on a glasses-free 3D display. Participants were filmed and posted on Youtube for social media marketing.

Japanese NICT has created and showed a prototype of the first big glasses-free 3D projection. The total viewing area is roughly 200″ in size. It uses an array of 57 HD projectors from JVC to create the desired effect. This 200″ prototype has a very narrow viewing angle of only 13 degrees. The current glasses-free 3D displays (up to 65″) as offered by Zero Creative have a viewing angle of almost 100 degrees.

While far ready from commercial release, I believe this is an important step for the future of 3D as this approach will also enable cinema size glasses-free 3D.
Nevertheless, Zero Creative is also trying to make her 3D software (digital signage and interactive presentations) compatible with this stunning 200″ 3D projection.

This week we tested our newest model 63″ xyZ 3D Display. The effect this display - the biggest high quality glasses-free experience in the world - has on people is amazing. The system uses a high-end plasma screen in combination with an exceptional precise lenticular layer.
While playing our demo content we all could see 3D pop-out effect of about 150 cm. The 3D viewing area was as great as an astonishing 2 to 20 meters. The whole experience was supported by beautiful colors, brightness and contrast and crisp image.
Next thing will be a 2×2 3D glasses-free videowall using these 63″ displays, which will result in a total 3D area of more than 126″.
Meanwhile other great news I picked up was that brands as Toshiba and Sony are also planning to do more and more in the autostereoscopic field.

Yesterday I demonstrated some of our solutions to a 150 professionals from the cultural heritage sector in The Netherlands.
Again it was confirmed that glassed-free 3D, combined with touch-less interaction, is just a great tool for museums to increase visitor experience. Many new ways of story telling become available using the 3th or even 4th dimension.
The conference “Evolve!”, organized by Museum Future, was held in The Netherlands.

The past months we have intensively been working on new ways of 3d interaction that really work. For us, as a leader in 3D, things finally are coming together somehow.
In the years behind us we have gained enourmous knowledge and experience on the fields of autostereoscopic 3D monitors, 3d animation, real-time 3D, 2d-3d conversion and intuitive use interaction. Meanwhile, the world around us also evolved; 3D is absolutely becoming mainstream more and more each day and even new ways of interaction are brought to the massess more and more. Devices as iPhones and iPads but also all kinds of other stuff has learned us [the people] to get more used to digital interactivity.
All this is now really leading to something very useful; a match between technological capabilities AND what people understand. This is opening a complete new world order in the field of interactivity and control, with dito visualization. Finally we can really put into the market what we always wanted, people are ready for it and even demand it now. Actually within just a few years from now people will define these types of technology as the ‘default’ and expect nothing less!
So, we’re proud to present to you our latest results in combining 3D and interactivity. Soon I will post the first video’s demonstrating our xyZ 3D Display (glasses-less) combined with our ultra intuitive gesture based interaction tools (touch-less). Cutting edge interactive 3D!
